As the title suggests, this piece is fast and furious throughout with great energy and ensemble needed from the orchestra. The opening motif needs to be crisp and well articulated so that the contrasting legato sections can really sing. Differences in dynamics are really important in the piece in order to create the intensity and drama that is required. The C minor middle section needs to be very smooth and romantic with lots of vibrato - almost a bit ‘over the top’! This piece will be great fun for players and will challenge their rhythmic and ensemble skills.
