Bach, J.S., Concerto in E BWV 1042 for Violin and Piano (Barenreiter)

Today the three violin concertos, BWV 1041–3, are among Johann Sebastian Bach’s best known and most popular instrumental works and enjoy a permanent place in the concert repertoire.

Our Urtext edition is based in the New Bach Edition. The revised violin and piano reduction includes an Urtext solo part and a solo part with bowing, fingering and comments on performance by Andrew Manze.

Johann Sebastian Bach, composer of the Baroque era, the most celebrated member of a large family of north German musicians. Although he was admired by his contemporaries primarily as an outstanding harpsichordist, organist, and expert on organ building, Bach is now generally regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time and is celebrated as the creator of the Brandenburg Concertos, The Well-Tempered Clavier, the Mass in B Minor, and numerous other masterpieces of church and instrumental music.
