Bloch's Suites for solo cello were composed at the very end of Bloch's life, from 1955-1957. Bloch took inspiration from Bach for these suites, and his influence is very audible. That said, Bloch's romanticism and modernism are also very evident. The result is simply a dynamic, interesting collection of suites that should not be overlooked.
