Elegy at Dig Tree And Goin Overland (Stephen Chin) for String Orchestra
These two works reflect the pioneering spirit of Australia’s early explorers.  Dig Tree was the place where the great explorers Burke and Wills met their unfortunate demise through a series of unfortunate mishaps. The Elegy expresses the sense of desolation these brave men must have experienced in the unforgiving desert.  Goin’ Overland, by contrast is brimming full of  the excitement and eagerness that one would feel in tackling the Australian outback.  String effects including tremolo, harmonics, pizzicato and legato highlight this distinctly Australian work. Grade 1.5.
