The Armed Man Sees the Light (Stephen Chin) for String Orchestra
This work is ideal for a festival orchestra with players at many different levels.  Written for four string orchestras and un-tuned percussion, it is based on the mediaeval tune “L’Homme Arme” which describes a sword wielding warrior.  The middle section, featuring a violin solo, is a lullaby where the armed man reflects quietly upon  his experiences at war.  The final section, founded on the South African song “Simbayama”, is a celebration of the armed man walking in the light of peace and liberty. Grade 3.5, 2, 1.5 & 1.
