Copy of a Nicolaus Amati 4/4 Violin
This violin offers a balanced sound with good clarity and projection. The quality of sound remains even across the strings, and each string yields an open sound up into the higher positions. This violin is suitable for the advancing violinist who is seeking a more colourful sound with good projection.
This German copy, based on the so-called “Grand Pattern” of Nicolo Amati, features upper and lower bouts that are slightly broader than what is typical of most violin models. The top is medium-fine grained spruce that fans out to a slightly broader grain at its edges. Its back is made from one piece of well-figured maple, with some antiquing revealing a layer of golden varnish beneath the deep red finish. The violin is fitted with ebony pegs and tailpiece, and Evah Pirazzi strings.
