The original Sainton Betti Violin was crafted by the Italian luthier Giuseppe Antonio Guarneri of Cremona (1698–1744). "This violin is invariably given the date of 1734 in 19th century sources, including Edward Heron-Allen, Gallay and in the notebook of C.E. Gand. In 1885, Heron-Allen published precise technical drawings of the violin in his famous treatise 'Violin Making As It Was and Is.'"
