Night Visions (Neridah Oostenbroek) for String Orchestra
Night Visions takes the players on a mysterious journey from the start to the finish. It begins with a unison quaver theme which is repeated several times throughout the piece, providing a base for the melodies later on. The piece has a strong rhythmic component and features lots of offbeat pizzicatos and syncopated melodies. There is a 12 bar blues section in the middle which features solos for all the sections of the ensemble with jazzy glissandos and walking bass lines. This piece is certain to be a favourite with students and audiences alike!
