On the Road Again (Keith Sharp) for String Orchestra

This cheerful, light-hearted piece, aimed at primary school ensembles, is suitable for younger middle school students too. Its “little bit of country” sound paints the image of singing and driving, whether outback, around town, or on a family holiday. The contrast between jaunty, folk-style rhythms and a legato theme provides formal balance and valuable teaching points in terms of bowing.
