Realist Quarter-Inch Jack Violin Pickup

The Realist acoustic transducer was designed by Ned Steinberger in collaboration with David Gage.

David Gage on the development of The Realist

"We understand the hours of practice it takes to draw your sound out of your instrument, and with this pick-up we feel your voice can be heard more accurately through an amplifier. Both recording engineers and professional musicians have been startled by the great tone and even response when playing pizzicato and arco. Finally, you can play both pizz and arco without having to play with your controls."

To place the The Realist Violin pick up on your instrument, firstly clamp the jack on the treble side of your instrument with the wire coming from the top of the jack.

The wire and element is then inserted into the f-hole closest to the jack through the lower eye. Retrieve the element through the long middle section of the f-holes by using the metal hook which is provided in the package.

Loosen all the strings slightly and tip the bridge over so it is standing on one foot. Slide the element underneath the foot of the bridge which is raised and so the dot on the element is facing up.

Raise the opposite foot of the bridge and slide the other half of the element under.

Tighten the strings and The Realist for violin is ready for use.
