Responsive and expressive under the bow, it is well suited to both solo and ensemble settings, making it an excellent choice for advancing or professional violists.

About the Maker:

Roberto Cavagnoli graduated from the International School of Violin Making in Cremona in 1993, where he studied under master violinmaker, Giorgio Scolari.

After completing his studies, he undertook several years of advanced training in the workshop of Angelo Sperzaga, refining his craftsmanship and developing a traditional Cremonese style. Between 1998 and 2000, he worked in the workshop of Barbara Piccinotti, where he focused on achieving clean lines, deepened his research into sound optimisation, and further shaped his personal style.

In 2001, Cavagnoli accepted an overseas opportunity to move to Australia, where he worked with James W. Robinson. During this period, he refined his expertise in fine instrument setup and continued to advance his tonal research.

In 2003, he participated in the 10th Cremona Triennial, presenting a viola and a cello, both of which received excellent results. In 2004, he was awarded a Silver Medal for cello tone at the VSA Competition Portland in Portland, Oregon, USA. The following year, he participated in the Mittenwald Competition with a viola. In 2006, he won Third Prize for cello at the 11th International Triennial Competition in Cremona, receiving special recognition for the originality of his work and the outstanding quality of its sound. That same year, he also took part in the Poznań Competition.

Roberto Cavagnoli is a member of the Group of Professional Violin and Bow Makers, the Consorzio A. Stradivari, and the Violin Society of America.

Today, he works in his own workshop in the historic centre of Cremona, where he crafts violins, violas, and cellos in the traditional Cremonese style.
