Teka Violin Chin Rest - Plastic 3/4-4/4

One of our best-sellers, The Teka Violin Chin Rest is popular for its shape, medium height and comfortable shape. If you need help finding the perfect chin rest, visit us in store today for a personalised, one-on-one free consultation.

Important points to remember in regards to your chinrest includes:

  • Ensure an experienced repairer/teacher/player helps fits your chinrest
  • If your instrument is ‘buzzing’ it could be that the chinrest is too loose and is rattling on the tailpiece
  • Ensure your tailpiece is not too tight as it may impact your instrument or restrict the resonance of your instrument
  • Only use equipment specifically designed to adjust your chinrest. Other implements may damage the varnish of the instrument

In his world-renowned book, The Violin Lesson, Simon Flesch concludes that the chinrest should really be called the ‘jawbone rest’ as that is a more accurate description of the contact point on the rest. It is also important to realise that there should be no gap between the instrument and the neck of the player. The tension caused by this incorrect posture would undoubtedly result in overall discomfort.

To install at home, loosen up the brackets and rest the chinrest to the left of the tailpiece, as seen in the product picture. Following this, insert the tip of the chinrest tool into one of the little holes on the bracket, and turn to tighten. Repeat with the other bracket.
